5 Natural Ways to Prevent Nausea During Pregnancy

Home / Home / 5 Natural Ways to Prevent Nausea During Pregnancy

It’s no secret your body goes through immense changes when you’re pregnant. You’ll likely develop a range of side effects as a result.

Nausea is often one of them. Luckily, there are natural ways to prevent nausea during pregnancy. If you’re struggling with pregnancy-related nausea, the following tips may help you.

Use Basic Home Remedies

Nausea during pregnancy is obviously unpleasant. That said, it’s not always unique from other forms of nausea. That means many of the home remedies used to reduce general nausea can also help you.

Popular natural ways to reduce nausea during pregnancy often involve eating certain foods that have a soothing effect on your stomach. These include ginger, cinnamon, cumin extract, and fennel powder.

(However, it’s always important to coordinate with your doctor if you’re planning on changing your diet while pregnant.)

Certain aromas have also been shown to guard against nausea. That’s why you may want to pick up a bottle of Earth Mama Early Morning Wellness Spray. Featuring a blend of citrus oils, vanilla, and ginger, just a whiff or two in the morning can help settle a sensitive stomach.

Consider Acupressure or Acupuncture

While the above recommendations should help, if your symptoms are relatively severe, you may also want to consider natural ways to reduce nausea that rely on your body’s own healing mechanisms.

Many find that acupuncture and acupressure are very effective at reducing the symptoms of pregnancy-related nausea. You don’t need to rely on anecdotal evidence if you’re not entirely convinced, either. Studies show that pregnant women undergoing regular acupuncture treatments are less likely to struggle with nausea than women undergoing no such treatments. It’s definitely worth a try!

Space Out Small Meals

Nausea often makes the idea of eating very unpleasant. However, if you don’t eat, your nausea may actually get worse.

Thus, experts recommend eating small meals throughout the day. You may find it’s easier to eat a few small meals than it is to eat three big ones.

Avoid Certain Smells

You already know some scents can be very helpful when you’re experiencing nausea due to pregnancy. On the other hand, there are strong smells which can make your nausea worse. These may include smoke, perfume, cologne, cooking smells, and other overwhelming scents. Make a point of limiting your exposure to them as much as possible.

Exercise

You don’t need to be told how important it is to be careful when exercising while pregnant. You need to coordinate with experts to make sure both you and your baby are safe.

That said, many women find that light exercise helps to reduce nausea during pregnancy. When it comes to natural ways to prevent nausea during pregnancy, this is potentially one of the healthiest and most affordable.

The main point to remember is that nausea isn’t something you need to accept as an unavoidable part of being pregnant. There are many steps you can take to reduce your symptoms naturally. These examples are merely some of the more effective methods worth keeping in mind.
